It won't solely focus on life and death as it pertains to Arthur and Merlin. Although, there will be a scene with Merlin's death during his original life. Of course, sadly, dog!Merlin will probably die before Arthur - but in this next story, I won't go into that because I'm focusing more on life - and literally, the different ways you can live (bit abstract, but I have three "ways of living" to go into within the fic...the obvious one is reincarnation, then there's living to death, and lastly immortality).
I could do another sequel focusing on the end of Arthur and Merlin's lives and how they deal with it. I just find writing that so sad that I don't know if I want to. :( I would like to hope they do both die at a nice, old age (in respective human and dog years).
I'm sure that Gwen and Arthur like each other...bit of a weird triangle now with Gwen being a cat, Lancelot a dog and Arthur a human.
Gwen doesn't remember her past life yet. I know it may seem like she must have if she immediately took to Merlin, but like I mentioned in this fic...Even his kitten friend, Guinevere, could not recall ever having a past life, she is in the same boat as Merlin. She does get flashes like Merlin, but it's one thing to get flashes of a past human life, it's another to feel like it's your life you're remembering. Right now for Gwen and Merlin it's like watching a movie with strangers playing different roles. They do get sensations/feelings from how certain people make them feel, but they don't think, "Oh! This is my past life I'm seeing..."
Arthur and Morgana may keep talking about reincarnation and who Merlin and Gwen truly are, but for Merlin and Gwen in their current animal forms...it's not really clicking for them. They don't *truly* believe it inside themselves and the best they could do is pretend to believe that they were these humans once. And there's no rhyme or reason for when either of them will remember - it's out of their control.
So Gwen had a good feeling about Merlin when she first saw him...and sensed that he was a friend even though she didn't understand exactly why she felt this way about him.
I'm glad you're liking this so far and that you enjoy my writing style. :) Good luck with your Chinese essay.
I hope you enjoy my other fics when you get around to them. I have a !fic masterlist tag near the top of my tags at the right. The masterlist hasn't been updated in a bit with more recent writing, but it's there if you're interested. And for some stories (mostly multi-chaptered ones), I made title tags for them.
