I couldn't resist adding a fairytale aspect to the story, and then the enchanted sleep idea came to mind. I thought it was a nice way to reassure Arthur about Merlin's feelings for him.

Yeah, Oliver's fate is rather bittersweet. It depends on how you see it. A horse isn't a bad animal to be, all things considered. Talking horses are the best. :)
