Fandom Steel Cage Match March Madness Round 2: Merlin needs some magical help ;-)

^ Click ^

(This is so hard for me because I love Annie Sawyer (Being Human) too. She's just as friendly and caring as Merlin...but then I feel more loyalty to Merlin fandom because of all the Merlin fic I'm inspired to write...*sigh* :()

I can't embed this vid, but the vid is called "The Tears of Merlin"...and that's how sad he'll be if he doesn't win. :-(

Last I heard, Merlin was losing to Annie, but I don't know by how much. There's still plenty of time -- until tomorrow, so we can still pull through!

Lol, I have no idea what this is, but it peaked my interest when you posted about it yesterday.
It's kinda fun to see the battles.

[identity profile] dk323.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
It's basically a multi-fandom competition... there are rounds (we're at Round 2 now as the subject line says) and the point is to vote for your favorite character so that they can move on to the next round. And then there are the hard choices...when two of your favorite characters are directly pitted against each other...so you have to decide who you want to win. Like the Merlin vs. Annie thing for me now. :O Decisions, decisions...

And the end result is bragging rights if your favorite character is the last character standing...beating out all the other characters from different fandoms. Of course, not all fandoms and characters are represented, but there usually still is a good mix of different fandoms/genres.

You can vote for the Eleventh Doctor too -- he made it to Round 2 and he's up against Scully...but c'mon, it's the Doctor. *love*

Yes, it is fun to see the battles, I agree. :)

Voted for Merlin!! And the Doctor!!
I was sad to see Spock losing to Buffy. :(

I haven't voted for any characters in the Comedy section, I've never watched the shows! I feel guilty clicking submit when I've only voted for one battle. Like the teenage section with Kurt Hummel.

It'll be very interesting to see who comes out on top. I don't want to say it, but depending on the matchup, I don't know how long Merlin will last.

[identity profile] dk323.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! Thanks for voting. I'm glad that getting the word out is helping. :) I think Eleven vs. Scully is going to be a really close race. *is nervous*

I admit I voted Buffy simply because I've seen more of her than Spock. I've never watched Star Trek, barring the new Star Trek movie...and I didn't want to vote for someone I wasn't too familiar with. But I do appreciate that if it weren't for Kirk/Spock leading the way for awesome slash in fandom, then we wouldn't have such solid fanbases for epic slash pairings like Arthur/Merlin.

I think what's going on with Spock losing is that since he beat Dean Winchester in the previous round, Dean fans are retaliating by voting against Spock.

I haven't voted for anyone in the Comedy section either. Kurt Hummel is doing really well. Aw well, that's logical not to vote when you've not seen the show (I'm guessing that's who the posters in the comments are targeting ...giving reasons why someone is worth voting for to those who aren't familiar with a certain character...with pretty pictures/gifs to seal the deal ;)).

I agree. I'm not too sure about Merlin staying until the end... going by what happened in 2009 (I just realized that I didn't really track the competition last year :P...last year Buffy won against Sheldon from Big Bang Theory), the Tenth Doctor ended up in third place...so I could see the Eleventh Doctor staying for a while longer. I'd love it if Eleven would win. :D

No problem. Yeah, all I see are Vote for Scully banners. lol.

Ah, don't worry I forgive you. I just have fond memories of watching the original Star Trek when it was marathoned on TV when I was little. I RL loled when you said 'Dean fans are retaliating by voting against Spock.'
Dunno why!

I have no idea what happened for Merlin in 2009, anything interesting or just utter sad defeat?

This whole competition reminds me of this video, like woah.

Yeah, that's what I see too. It'll be an interesting race between Eleven and Scully.

Thank you. I think I was too caught up in Harry Potter and other things when I was younger. I never got into Star Trek... :( I do have to say that I enjoyed the Star Trek movie that came out in 2009. I especially liked Bones -- mostly for his first lines. After that, I was sold on his character. :)

Haha yes...I wouldn't put it past the Dean fans (I love Dean too :)). And also, Dean won the whole thing in 2009 (where Ten came in third...Barney Stinson came in second). So the Dean Winchester fangirls can play with the best of them. ;)

Unfortunately Merlin wasn't in any of the rounds for both 2009 and 2010 (as far as I saw). So this year is a first for him. :) I have high hopes for him. :D

OMG. That vid is awesome. ♥ Thanks for sharing it. I see the similarities too, LOL. ;)

Merlin wins now !!!!

But Spock is losing T_T

[identity profile] dk323.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I saw. I'm so glad he's winning. \o/ And also, that the vampire who beat Nathan Young is now losing badly to his current competition. Muahaha -- that makes me feel a little better about Nathan losing now that the vampire's getting pummeled (by a woman too! :D).

I admit I voted for Buffy instead...mostly because I never really watched Star Trek. I did see the new Star Trek movie, but the Spock there didn't inspire me to vote him over Buffy (who I know better and I love how kickass she is :)).

[identity profile] a8c-sock.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
I went and voted fo Merlin who is now winning.

I voted for the Eleventh Doctor too and few others whilst I was there. Well, the ones I had heard of. I admit the comedy section was something of a mystery.

[identity profile] dk323.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! :) The poll's closed and Merlin won by 400 some points. :D I'm a bit sad that Annie lost out...but I suppose in the end, Merlin's awesomeness can't be denied.

I voted for Eleven too. OMG. The 11 vs. Scully battle was ridiculous...but Eleven pulled through in the end. :)

The comedy section was the only section that I didn't make a vote in for the same reason. :P

[identity profile] a8c-sock.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
And now of course he's up against the Eleventh Doctor :-( So many hard choices in that category.

Hee hee glad I wasn't the only one.

Merlin has my vote!! :D

[identity profile] dk323.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
\o/ Thanks for voting for him. The poll has closed now and Merlin won. :D :D
