Poll on Rose Tyler

I'm almost positive most of the people (or at least those on my FList) who frequent here are going to say Series 1. I'd say the same. Thus the point of this poll is moot.[Poll #1374677][Poll #1374677]

nd I have to say, the Series 4 one was hard to do because I didn't really like anything coming out of Rose's mouth in Series 4. Well, except for the brief compliment directed at Martha. Otherwise...not so much.

Not just that, but for me, I think Billie lost the Rose accent in the last couple of years...which meant that I didn't end up understanding alot of what she said. It was kind of slurred...

But I agree; other than the one tip of the hat to Martha, I wasn't feeling S4 Rose (or her dialog). I think you know which way I voted. ;)

Yeah, I agree. That was a large part of the reason why. It's understandable why it was like that (hard to get back into the character when you've been away for a while), but still unfortunate.

Yeah - that one compliment helped just a little bit. I cringed a bit when she said things like, "on the worst day of my life..." (it reminded me of a soap opera in a bad way) or the sniping when she was excluded from the online chat.

And it looks like Series 1 is winning (5 to 2). Thanks for participating in the poll! Even though I voted for Series 1, I was tempted to vote for Series 2 because that quote from Satan Pit always makes me really feel for her.

:) It's a very pretty icon. Love that splash of color at the top.

I voted season 2: happy-happy-brave-devestated Rose all the way! Any season that contains Rose both sending the embodiment of Hell hurtling into space AND giving the Doctor future!cupcakes is pretty epic in my book.

But, mostly for 'Doomsday'. The raw pain across that few feet of beach/an entire universe makes me tear up each and every time.

I knew you'd vote season 2. :) When I made the poll, I had a feeling you'd be one of the people voting for that season. I agree on all your points for Rose. Season 2 will always have a special place for me because it's the first season I saw. And Rose in that season was part of the reason that I fell in love with the show - it wasn't just the Doctor.

I suppose watching Series 1 has altered my view a bit. Rose's role in season 1 was just so much more important imo than in season 2. She helped the Doctor heal, which is not an easy thing to do. By the time season 2 came and he regenerated, Rose's role changed. Though she still proved herself as a companion, it just wasn't the same.

I understand why they turned it into a love story, but I felt like her character suddenly turned into having to be defined in relation to the Doctor. She was so wrapped up with traveling with him that as she proved in the end...she'd choose him over *never* seeing her family ever again. But we've talked about this before, so you know my stance on it. I was left feeling a little cold when she voiced her decision in Doomsday.

But those are things I can overlook...what *really* bothered me was her Series 4 character growth/lack thereof. I don't mind Series 2 too much especially when you compare it to what happened to her when she came back in S4.
