Merlin: S2|E3: "The Nightmare Begins"

I knew I would love this episode sooo much. Merlin/Arthur = cracky! fun and oh so silly. Arthur quite possibly jealous of Merlin/Morgana?? And Arthur wanting flowers from Merlin?: Yes and yes. :P

I really liked the Merlin/Morgana interaction despite the FAIL that Merlin didn't manage to tell her about him being magic. Whatever, show. At least Morgana knows she has someone in Camelot that she could trust with her magic secret.

I was resigned to the almost-reveal that happened multiple times in this episode. Urgh... I did love how Merlin did quite a lot of magic in this episode...more magic from Merlin? Yes, please. That was fun.

Funniest moment ever:
Arthur confronting Merlin about him giving flowers to Morgana -- LOL at the "Pick them yourself?" :P I see what the show was trying to do - showing how Arthur understands liking someone you can't have (Guinevere...or, you know, Merlin *cough*). Hmmm, right. Merlin, of course, is pretty oblivious about how his perceived attentions toward Morgana might appear to others. Watch out, Merlin. Arthur can be pretty scary as a jealous boyfriend, LOL. Anyway...

Merlin just seemed so earnest to tell Morgana his secret...oh Merlin! And they were either interrupted or he just backed out of it at the last moment.

Okay, at the end, when Arthur is telling Merlin he should find a girl more on his level - I immediately thought of Gwen...after all, Gwen is a servant as well, so she's "more on his level." I almost wanted Merlin to point out if Arthur meant Gwen as an option. And then, Arthur would make an, "Oh crap" face and try quickly to change the meaning of his words. Merlin would just smirk knowingly. "Not trying to impress Gwen, right, Arthur?"

Arthur will *never* hear the end of it. :P

I liked that little smile Merlin gives when he eavesdrops on the Druid telling Morgana that she has magic and that it could be a force for good...that she shouldn't be afraid of it. Merlin just seemed truly happy and grateful that Morgana found the answer she was looking for. Such a sweet moment.
:)

The look on Merlin's face when he saw Mordred knock down all those guards. Foreboding, big time. Made me nervous... Mordred's still so young and yet, to have that kind of power...

That last scene between Merlin and Morgana...oh, the tension. Please, show, continue with more Merlin/Morgana (just interaction, showing their friendship...I'm not too picky. I'm doubting they'll try to start an actual relationship between them (though I wouldn't say no to it)) moments. I don't mind the Arthur/Gwen if there are hints of Merlin/Morgana. Don't get me wrong, I think Arthur/Gwen so far is sweet and endearing. I'm still torn between Lancelot/Gwen and Arthur/Gwen though...I don't know.

All that said, the next episode "Lancelot and Guinevere" should be interesting. Will I be dissuaded away from Lancelot/Gwen? We'll see... One thing is for sure, Arthur's going to be very conflicted and frustrated with Lancelot's already established friendship with Gwen...

"Merlin, what is jealousy?"

"Hmm, why are you asking me that?"

"Because this strange feeling has come over me... I can't quite explain it. When I see Lancelot with Guinevere... I have a strong urge to rip his head off..."

"Okay, yeah. I think that's what you'd call jealousy."

"Huh. I don't like it. It's a very unpleasant feeling."

"Well, yes. Being jealous isn't really a happy feeling, Arthur."

*sees what Merlin is holding*

"Wait -- what is that you're holding? Are those flowers?"

Merlin nods. "Yes, they're uh...for Morgana."

Arthur's jaw tightened. "Merlin?"

"Yes?"

"I think I'm feeling jealous right now."

LOLOL forever at the genius of that last conversation. :D The flowers thing just brought the multiship again. And I'm probably supposed to be a hardcore A/G shipper, but look, Lancelot's really sweet and smitten! Who could resist such overt sentiments like HUNDRED TIMES OVER?

And wtf, Merlin had many TEN MINUTE LONG GAPS to tell Morgana. But apparently the boy's actually as stupid as he seems. Along with lighting fires in the forest every ten minutes to tell Arthur where he is. (good thing he's adorable in other ways.)

Thank you! I had fun writing it and now I'm tempted to develop it more. Oh yes, Gwen's not the only one bringing Morgana flowers anymore! :P

Next, I expect Arthur to give flowers to Gwen, but I don't know if he has the guts to...

Yeah, I really don't know! Both pairings endear themselves to me... The only het pairing I'm completely sure about is Merlin/Morgana. But as far as the Arthur/Gwen/Lancelot love triangle -- I can't choose. When I think of Arthur/Gwen, I feel bad for Arthur because of the looming betrayal (who knows what the show will do with it, but still). I can't bear for him to be heartbroken. And I just don't see this Gwen hurting Arthur like that. So yeah, I'm torn. :-(

It really looks like Lancelot spent some time in a romance novel. With declarations of love like that, how could Gwen not fall head over heels in love with him? Arthur should be taking notes, though he's not half bad himself. :-)

Urgh - darn writers for ratcheting up the tension between Merlin and Morgana. They just want to draw out the reveal for as long as they can. Even though this would have been a great episode for Merlin to confide in Morgana, it didn't happen. I was expecting it, but it still irked me. :(

Yeah, lighting that fire wasn't smart...but look! Apparently, Merlin now can set off a super cool smoke machine to head off any pursuers. I mean, that smoke had to come from somewhere, lol!

Oh man. Arthur's going to handpick some god-ugly weeds for Gwen, earth clumps and all, and Gwen's going to be all o.0

And then Arthur will go to his room to find a really innocuous daffodil on his pillow or something, and he's not going to have the courage to ask Merlin if he actually took him up on his demand, or what, and now something's definitely wrong because everywhere Arthur's going he's just noticing flowers. :D

Oh boy! I can just see that. Poor Arthur will be at a loss as to how to go about it at first, but he'll get the hang of it in time, I'm sure.

LMAO. Yes, this! That would be the plot of possibly the best fic ever. ;)
