S4.8: The Silence in the Library

Woefully late, but this episode - though it's only Part 1 of a two-parter - was very exciting to watch. I love the mystery and the eeriness of what is going on. I will never look at a shadow the same way again. Although I have to say, I found the empty child in Series 1 to be a little more creepier - maybe 'cause it was unexpected that a child would be so dangerous.

The little girl somehow being a part of the library - it looks like she was a security camera? I'm still not sure really if the library is just her dream world or she's the one living in a dream world. I'm interested to see what part she'll play in the conclusion to this story.

When the girl died and you could hear what she was saying moments after she was presumed dead - I was with Donna there - that was the most horrible, saddest thing to witness.

Of course, I can't forget Professor River Song - who intrigued me and I think Moffat did a very good job introducing her. The idea that she is possibly a future companion of the Doctor's is very cool and I look forward to seeing more of her in the second part. Hopefully more will be revealed about the extent of her relationship with the Doctor. They definitely seemed like they were fairly close considering how she acted toward him - and that diary, especially. It did look a bit like the TARDIS.

I'm wondering though - since she said he looks younger than how she remembered - how she can be a future companion on the show if Tennant is only staying for a few more seasons. It has to be this regeneration, but how can he look older - the way Song remembered him when he'll only be playing the Doctor for two seasons or so. Only way for it to work is if there is a time jump or something, which if they really want Prof. River Song to be a future companion, then I guess it has to be done.

Looking forward to the second part. :-)
