Doctor Who S5-7: Amy's Choice

Hmmm...okay, so the Doctor was the Dream Lord all along because of those psychic particles? All right...it looks like the Doctor's a bit insecure about Amy and Rory's relationship. Or maybe I'm reading it wrong...I'm just not completely certain that he's 100% behind Amy and Rory's thing. It's understandable though...of course the Doctor would have an attachment to Amy (if only friendly) and no one likes to find themselves being the third wheel while the couple is in the same room kissing each other...and the "third wheel" feels like well, a third wheel. Poor Doctor.

I'm glad that Amy was so affected by losing Rory that she realized who was truly important to her. So this episode was a good lesson to her -- to remind her that Rory is a constant in her life and she should appreciate him more. Hopefully she takes this message to heart. :)

Cool premise all together though...with deciding what was the dream and what was reality... the Dream Lord guy got annoying after a bit though. I wish he would have just shut up at some points. And considering he apparently was some manifestation of the Doctor...don't know what that says about my opinion of the Doctor. :p

I'm really liking this TARDIS trio -- I'm so glad that Rory is traveling with them. :)

Well the Doctor's always been a bit of a talker - Ten, especially. I actually think, now, that maybe the Dream Lord is specifically a manifestation of the Tenth incarnation's darker side (as realised by The Waters of Mars) - and he was definitely a mouthy git! - because that'd fit with his comments about companions and friends, and his obvious guilt over not visiting his companions once they've left the TARDIS, and his sarcasm about his outfit (since Ten seemed to consider himself the epitome of 21st century sartorial elegance).

Oh, I could definitely go along with the theory of the Dream Lord being Ten's darker side. Waters of Mars really did bring out that unpleasant side of Ten. It's like the Doctor's previous incarnation coming back to annoy his current one in an admittedly frustrating fashion.

Ten certainly had a lot of guilt about his companions and how he didn't go back and visit them...and he was taking it all out on Eleven. I felt dismayed on Eleven's behalf when the Dream Lord started insulting the bowtie - that's just not right. :\

LOL I was amused by him dissing the bowtie, considering he was wearing one himself!

Ha, yeah...that was a bit hypocritical of the Dream Lord. *shakes head*

"it looks like the Doctor's a bit insecure about Amy and Rory's relationship" That's what I got from it too, so maybe we're both wrong! xD

I sort of feel like I wasn't watching the episode closely enough. I mean, considering Eleven had been trying so hard to insure Amy and Rory spent time together in the previous episode - I just felt like I wasn't reading the Doctor's POV right in "Amy's Choice."

It's always possible that Eleven is just not trying to think about it too hard - the Doctor is known to run away from things after all. Eleven is clearly conflicted over Amy and Rory's relationship...he's not sure where he stands there.

But I'm glad I'm not the only one who came to that conclusion...cheers! :)

THEY SMOKED ALIEN WEED.

I think that while the Doctor wants Amy and Rory to be happy togther, on a subconscious level he wants to keep Amy all for himself forever, just like he probably does with most of his companions. And a part of him wants to get with them even if totally denies it on a day-to-day basis.

The Doctor's alter-ego is deeply irritating, lolol. Like a self-help book that calls you a nutter while criticising your dress sense.

THEY SMOKED ALIEN WEED.

Haha, probably! "Now children, this is what'll happen if you smoke alien weed..." ;)

I agree with your thoughts on the Doctor's conflicted mindset. Of course he sees Amy as his main companion currently and Rory's tagging along for now... certainly, Eleven would feel an attachment to Amy and not wish to share her even though, rationally, he knows he should do the right thing and give her and Rory some quality time together (as they travel in time and space -- I doubt their honeymoon could beat that! LOL).

I agree - the Doctor's alter-ego made me want to stick duct tape on his mouth to quiet him. :\
