A/N: In this AU, the Doctor does tell Martha during their time in 1969 that not all Time Lords are good people, and in fact some are bad as in ready to bring on the apocalypse bad. So this causes Martha to change her actions in this version of events at the end of Utopia.

Author’s Notes: This is an AU! version of The Parting of the Ways that is set in the alternate reality Martha dreamed about in the one-shot “Memory” here (it would be helpful, but not necessary to read that story first). "In the aftermath" will serve as a sort of introduction to future stories in the series.

In this alternate reality, Martha met Rose when they were kids. They have been friends since that time. Years later in 2005 when Rose is 19 and Martha is 21, they meet Nine and travel with him.

Author’s notes #1: Alt!Martha is referred to as Alice. The third Doctor (the one with Alt!Martha) wears a grey suit, so he’ll be referenced that way sometimes. Ten 2.0 is wearing his blue suit.

Author’s notes: This one-shot is in the same universe as a series of fics I wrote after The Doctor's Daughter aired (so only Series 4 episodes up through that episode are referenced). It's now completely AU after the Series 4 finale (so no Handy and Donna still has her memories). It takes place six months more or less after “The Doctor’s Daughter”.

This is my take on what would happen if Rose returned to traveling with the Doctor after she comes back from the parallel universe. Martha joins them for a trip or two once in a while. Rose and Martha are good friends at this point in the series. Donna travels with them as well, but she's off visiting family during this story.

In case anyone was confused with the previous chapter, it took place a few months in the past based on Martha's timeline. After leaving Martha in the second chapter, the Doctor gets into trouble on a trip he goes on and ends up traveling to a few months before the start of the first chapter (wibbly-wobbly timey wimey). So that in 3a, he gets Martha pregnant due to whatever happens on that trip (coz he has a tendency to have problems when he's traveling solo ;-)).

As to why Rose is in this – well, there are these drabbles I wrote where Rose and Martha were traveling with the Doctor at the same time and I’ve always liked the idea of the two companions being close.
